Millseas Mates: Capri

For the second rendition of Millseas Mates, I had my cousin Lauren, document her 10-day trip to Capri - where she stayed, what she ate, what she did, what she didn't like, what she wouldn't recommend, etc. These are her experiences and her photos. I hope you enjoy!

friday 6/24:

- landed in rome and drove to sant’agata

- stayed at the don alfonso hotel in the poets house

- went to dinner at a michelin star farm-to-table restaurant (located inside the don alfonso hotel). they had the best cannelloni pasta and the craziest wine cellar. back in the day, the route to the wine cellar was used as a passageway in the event the emperor needed to escape to the sea. the wine cellar is deep underground with about 25,000 bottles of wine dating back to the 1800s.

saturday 6/25:

- saturday morning caught the ferry to capri which was only a short ride over from sant’agata - but not before having fresh figs from the farm straight off the truck for breakfast.

- for dinner we went to villa verde which was delicious and the atmosphere is quite lively and did not disappoint!

sunday 6/26:

- What’s better than shopping at dior? shopping at dior in a bathing suit with an aperol sprit.

- had lunch at the il ricchio beach club. not only was lunch great but the view can’t be beat. just make sure you leave room to stop by the temptation room on your way out.

- after lunch h we enjoyed some aperol spritz’s at the sea lounge before stopping by the dior pop up for some window shopping

- we finished off the day with a dip in the mediterranean.

monday 6/27:

- pool day

- not only does the michelin star da gesolmina have great food but also some of the best views of italy. stop by here for a sunset dinner for a perfect evening

tuesday 6/28:

- boat day to the island of ischia. this day trip wouldn’t be complete without stopping by the blue grotto and swimming into the cave to check out those super cool views.

- after some afternoon swimming we bloated to lunch at giardino eden, which was one of my favorite meals. the scenery here is amazing - and it doesn’t hurt when you have linguine vongole and rose in front of you.

- for dinner we had chef @in_cucina_con_lina_da_capri come to villa and cook us the most amazing courses inclusive of fried zucchini flowers, fried calamari, swordfish, and the traditional spaghetti alla nerano. chef lina is one of the best with her own cooking show and even going on yachts like a-rods to cook for him.

wednesday 6/29:

- lunch at la fontalina beach club followed by some tanning on the caprisian rocks. make sure to try one of la fontellinas signature lagers that comes in the cutest little bottle.

- on our way back to the villa we stopped at a local pizza place in annacapri called aumm aumm. this may not be one of the most dazzling restaurants but the best pizza i had the whole trip and that’s saying something

thursday 6/30:

- our euro escapades we’re starting to catch up to us so we did a villa pool day and made sandwiches and listened to some music.

- at night we headed to la taverna the club in capri to be. this isn’t your average nyc nightclub. be prepared to dance and shake your tambourine to some traditional italian classics like bella ciao as you sing along with the live band

friday 6/31:

- we boated over to one fire beach club.

  • one fire beach club is the most lively beach club we’ve been to with a dj playing some hits.

  • one fire is known for their orange aesthetic so be sure to order a spritz but don’t order too many because you need to make it until 4:30.

  • 4:30 pm is when the watermelon comes for the ceremony but i’m gonna leave it at that and let you experience it for yourself

saturday 7/1:

- was spent the way it should be - shopping in capri. capri is full of so many good stores from local italian boutiques to hermes and chanel! after treating ourselves we just needed to treat ourselves a little more - gelato of course!

- for dinner we headed to la campannina in capri.

sunday 7/2:

- very lowkey day for for last day- we hung by the pool

- went to a local restaurant at night. i got the truffle pasta and one last gelato!

other thoughts:

- staying in a villa on the water has its pros and cons. amazing views but you have to walk up about 0.75 miles up steps to get to the main town in 85 degree weather

- endless limoncello and espresso as one does when in italy
